Throughout her corporate and community involvement, Barbara Turner has dedicated her life to the idea that everyone – particularly women and people in need – should have access to the resources required to achieve financial security and independence. 


Barbara has 40 years of corporate leadership experience in financial services. Most recently, as CEO of Ohio National, a $1.5 billion financial services company with $42 billion in assets under management, she successfully led a bold initiative to redefine and reposition the century-old organization to grow during significant change in the industry. 


During her tenure at Ohio National, Barbara’s leadership spanned the business, serving as Vice Chair, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer for the parent company and President and CEO of its broker-dealer and investment advisory subsidiaries. 


Under her leadership, Ohio National’s broker-dealer and investment advisory subsidiaries experienced historical growth and profitability and were recognized as a top broker/dealer in the country by Financial Planning magazine. She held roles at Cox Financial Corporation, Reynolds DeWitt Securities, Provident Bank, and Central Trust Bank. Throughout her career, she focused on people, innovation, and continuous improvement to achieve results. 


Barbara also served as the vice chair of LL Global (LIMRA) from 2019-2022 and on various American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) committees from 2013-2020. She was elected to the ACLI board in 2021.  Barbara was named one of Savoy Magazine’s 2021 Most Influential Black Directors, Wealth Management Magazine’s Top 50 Women in Wealth Management in 2009, and received the Linkage Women in Leadership Executive Impact Award in 2019. 


Barbara has a long history of applying her experience, knowledge, and compassion to build strong and thriving communities through financial literacy and security.
